San Benito County Cattlemen's Association Scholarship

  • Due Date: April 25, 2024

  • Description: San Benito County Cattlemen’s Association offers an annual scholarship award to college bound eligible applicants. Students who apply must be a resident of this county and pursuing studies associated with an agricultural influence. The candidate must meet all the requirements and has an opportunity to apply for this scholarship twice.

  • Requirements:​

San Benito County Heritage Foundation $1,000 Livestock Animal Scholaship

  • Due Date: April 30, 2024

  • Description: The San Benito County Heritage Foundation is looking for a qualified, responsible, energetic, and
    outgoing spokesperson to raise our 2024 Heritage Livestock Animal. All monies raised from the sale are
    invested in Bolado Park. The Heritage Foundation pays for the animal and all related expenses. The
    winning applicant becomes the only finalist for a $1,000 college scholarship and receives a
    commemorative buckle. The scholarship is awarded during their senior year of high school, subject to
    applicant completing the following:

  • Requirements:​

    • Must be responsible for the care of the Heritage Animal

    • Required to attend and speak at various community events, 4-H club meetings and FFA Chapter
      meetings to promote the Heritage Foundation and the use of Buyer Certificates

    • Maintain communication about animal, events and outreach with Scholarship Committee
      Chairperson

    • Comply with and adhere to the Heritage Livestock Animal Agreement and Scholarship
      Guidelines

California Agricultural Irrigation Association Scholarship

  • Due Date: June 26, 2024

  • Description: The California Agricultural Irrigation Association Scholarship was organized to give aid to students with a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural irrigation industry. Each year, the CAIA Board of Directors will determine the number of scholarships and the award amounts depending on the funds available. Scholarship awards average $1200 for the academic year, disbursed in two installments, one for the fall semester and one for the spring semester.  In addition, scholarship recipients will automatically receive student memberships in CAIA for the duration of their scholarship period.

  • Eligibility:​

    • High school seniors or undergraduate students who are residents of California entering or attending a two or four-year accredited college or university in California

    • Student must be considered a full time student by their institution

    • Students with a major/concentration in agriculture with the intent to pursue a career in the irrigation industry

  • Requirements:

    • Completed scholarship application

    • College transcript (for those currently enrolled)

    • One (1) letter of recommendation dated within three months of application​

National FFA Scholarships

  • Date Open: November 1, 2023

  • Due Date: January 11, 2024 (CLOSED)

  • Description: Whether you are pursuing a trade school, vocational certificate or a two-year or four-year degree, don’t miss your chance to apply for a National FFA Scholarship to help with your next steps in education. If you are a senior FFA member in high school or FFA Alumni in college, just one application is required for multiple scholarship opportunities totaling nearly $2.5 million.

    • The 2023-24 scholarship application opens Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023. To apply, please ensure you have the following:

California FFA Scholarship

  • Date Open: November 15, 2023

Wandering Maverick Boutique's Women in Agriculture Scholarship

  • Date Open: February 1, 2024

  • Due Date: March 1, 2024 at 12 am CST (10 am PST) (CLOSED)

  • Submission: The link will become unavailable on March 1st, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. CST. 

  • Requirements:  This scholarship is open to all women in ag that will be a full-time college student in fall 2024 and spring 2025 (including grad students) and pursuing a career in agriculture.

San Benito County CattleWomen Scholarship

  • Due Date: March 8, 2024 (CLOSED)

  • Submission: Please submit application to the Career Center or directly to the San Benito County CattleWomen at P.O. Box 539, Tres Pinos, CA 95075

  • Requirements:

    • The applicant must be a high school senior.

    • The applicant must be accepted by an accredited university, college, or trade school under a program that will help result in a career that supports the agriculture industry.

    • The applicant shall have a grade point average of at least 3.0 for grades 10, 11, and the first half of grade 12.

    • Application package must include:

      • SBCCW Scholarship Application

      • Copy of applicant’s most recent transcript

      • A personal essay about your future career goals and how you intend to support the agriculture industry after graduation (500 words or less)

      • A list of extra-curricular activities, including community involvement

      • A list of work experience (this may include work at home or in the
        family business)

      • Two letters of recommendation

    • Verification of enrollment in an accredited university, college, or trade school must be submitted to claim scholarship.​

Hollister High School Common Application 

  • Date Open: January 4, 2024

  • Due Date: March 8, 2024 at 4 pm (CLOSED)

  • Description: Complete the Google Form application with the attached requirements in one PDF. Do not attach and send each document separately.

    •  3 Letters of recommendation (2 from an HHS staff member and 1 from a community member)

    •  Personal statement (1 ½ - 2 pages double spaced)

  • Hollister Ag Booster FFA Scholarship

    • Graduating HHS senior

    • FFA member for 4 years

    • Average 3.0 GPA or above

    • Plan on attending 2, 4-year college/university, trade/technical school

    • Recipient of State Degree

    • Essay: Minimum of 200 words, but not over 250 words explaining how FFA has helped you determine your future goals and how will this scholarship help you with your future education​

  • Isidro Beltran Memorial Scholarship

    • Graduating HHS Senior

    • 2.0 Minimum  GPA

    • Financial Need not Considered

    • Plan on attending a 2 or 4 years college/university majoring in agriculture

    • Essay: (500-word maximum) “What does agriculture mean to you?”​

  • Kenny Fehlman Scholarship

    • Graduating HHS senior

    • 2.5 minimum GPA 

    • Plan on attending 2, 4-year college/university, trade/technical school

    • Financial need a consideration (MUST fill out family income)

    • Been active in school-related activities, demonstrated an enthusiastic spirit, good citizenship, and high moral character

    • Participation in one or more of the following: wrestling, FFA, District 4 Rodeo, SBC Rodeo, or Jr Rodeo, and list the number of semesters/years involved

  • Ronald A. Rodrigues Memorial Scholarship

    • Graduating Senior at HHS

    • 2.75 Minimum GPA

    • Plan on attending a 2,4-year college/university or trade/technical school

    • Financial Needs to be Considered

    • The student must be an FFA member or planning on majoring in any type of Agricultural Field

San Benito County Jr Rodeo Scholarship

  • Due Date: March 15, 2024 (CLOSED)

  • Requirements:

    • Student must be a current senior graduating from high school and reside in San Benito
      County

    • Must have been a contestant at the SBC Jr Rodeo for 2 of the past 4 years

    • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

    • Plan on attending a 2-year, 4-year or trade school

    • Copy of transcript

    • One page essay (250 words) or a 2 minute video speech on “What is your most
      memorable or challenging moment in your rodeo career?” or “Who is a mentor that has
      influenced you?”

    • Scholarship money will be received after proof of transcript to advanced education

    • Scholarship may be awarded to multiple recipients that meet the requirements

Salinas Valley California Women for Agriculture - Women Pursuing Degrees in Agriculture Scholarship

  • Due Date: March 26, 2024 (CLOSED)

  • Submission: Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Recipients will be announced the week of April 22, 2023 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

  • Description: In continuing our commitment to promote awareness and education, the Salinas Valley Chapter of California Women for Agriculture (CWA) offers two scholarships for women in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties. There is no age restriction for either of these scholarships, nor is either based upon financial need. Scholarships range from $500 to $2,000. 

  • Requirements:​

    • Must be a female resident or high school graduate from Monterey, San Benito or Santa Cruz County.

    • Must be pursuing a degree from an accredited trade school, an associate’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related subject area. 

    • If an applicant is in high school when applying, they must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

    • If the applicant is enrolled in a trade school or college when applying, they must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

Salinas Valley California Women for Agriculture - Farmworker Scholarship

  • Due Date: March 26, 2024 (CLOSED)

  • Submission: Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Recipients will be announced the week of April 22, 2023 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

  • Description: In continuing our commitment to promote awareness and education, the Salinas Valley Chapter of California Women for Agriculture (CWA) offers two scholarships for women in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties.     • Must be employed as a farm worker or have at least one parent or a spouse who has been employed as a farm laborer for two consecutive seasons in Monterey, San Benito or Santa Cruz County. A“farm worker”  is defined by a person who labors in fieldwork, production, and/or manufacturing of agricultural products. This definition does not include anyone who is employed as an office worker (clerical, technical, sales), or anyone who is a partner/owner of such an agricultural company or livestock ranch.

    • Must be pursuing a degree from an accredited trade school, an associate’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related subject area

    • If an applicant is in high school when applying, they must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

    • If the applicant is enrolled in a trade school or college when applying, they must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

Central Coast Young Farmers & Ranchers, Monterey County Farm Bureau & American AgCredit Scholarships

  • Due Date: March 29, 2024 (CLOSED)

  • Description: Central Coast Young Farmers & Ranchers, Monterey County Farm Bureau, and American AgCredit are pleased to award scholarships each year to deserving students who desire a career in food production or ranching. Central Coast Young Farmers & Ranchers works hard to give back to the agricultural community through fundraiser events, bar-b-que services and support of other agricultural non-profit organizations.

  • Requirements:​

    • Applicants may be incoming college freshmen, starting or continuing students at a Junior College, Community College, or four-year University, or transferring to a four-year college or university.

    • Must have attended and graduated from high school within Monterey or San Benito Counties.

    • Collegiate curriculum area of study and expected degree must be in Agriculture / AgriBusiness.

    • Strong consideration is based off the essay question.

    • Grade point average, extra-curricular activities, and financial need will be considered.

    • Recipient must show proof of enrollment and maintain 12 units or more each semester/quarter during the 2023-2024 academic year to receive funds.
