Joesph Martin

Courses: Foundations of Agriculture and Industrial Technology, Ag Engineering, Ag Fabrications

All the way from Gustine, California in the fertile Central Valley, Mr. Martin in his 11th year of teaching but now his 6th year as an advisor for Hollister FFA. His family consists of his wife, Erin, and daughter, Samantha. Mr. Martin showed and raised large animals including sheep, hogs and cattle. Here at San Benito High School, he teaches in the Ag Mechanics department including Ag Fab. Being an advisor, he mentors the Leadership Team of Hollister FFA as well as speech competitions and upcoming conferences.

Emily Herzog

Courses: Biology and Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Horticulture, Plant Production Management, Chemistry and Agriscience

CDE/LDE: Prepared Public Speaking & Milk Quality and Dairy Foods

This is Ms. Herzog’s first year teaching at San Benito High School and in her career. She is from Calexico, California where she got to be involved in her local high school’s FFA chapter. When Ms. Herzog was in FFA she was extremely involved with all leadership opportunities that became available to her. This drove her passion for agriculture and lead her to attend Cal Poly SLO to study Dairy Science. After volunteering for different FFA events in college Ms. Herzog realized her true passion was in agriculture education. Ms. Herzog is excited to work with the members this year!

Chelsi Soares

Courses: Floriculture, Interdisciplinary Science in Sustainable Agriculture Honors

SAEs: Poultry Production, Rabbit Production, Floral 

CDE/LDE: Job Interview & Floral Judging

Mrs. Soares hails from Cow Town, USA (better known as Tulare, CA), where she was involved in the local 4-H and FFA programs. Being raised on a dairy sparked her love of agriculture and dairy cattle, where she showed Holstein heifers for seven years. After high school, Mrs. Soares attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and graduated with bother her Bachelor’s Degree (in Agriculture Sciences and Master’s Degree (in Agriculture Education). She spent three years in Gilroy as an ag teacher and FFA advisor.

Bailey Riedel

Courses: Chemistry and Agriscience, Veterinary Science, Animal Science 

SAEs: Sheep Production, Goat Production

CDE/LDE: Impromptu, Extemporaneous, Veterinary Science & Livestock Judging

 

Miss Riedel was born and raised in beautiful San Luis Obispo, CA. Being the youngest of four siblings she was immersed in raising and judging livestock and was extremely involved in 4-H and FFA. Through FFA and livestock judging she attended Redlands Community College in El Reno, OK where she was on a successful livestock judging team and got her Associate's Degree. She then attended Texas Tech University where she got her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in science.  She received her teaching credential from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. and for the past three years, she has been teaching at Chowchilla High School in the San Joaquin Valley.
